As a mountaineer, she has has successfully climbed three of the seven summits – Mt Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mt Elbrus (Europe) and Mt Aconcagua (South America) - and has ambitions to complete the rest of the 7 summits over the next few years. She has, in addition, summitted other mountain peaks of varying altitudes, including Mount Mulanje (Malawi), Machu Picchu (Peru) and Mount Bonete (Argentina). As part of training for Mount Everest in 2020, which was eventually cancelled, Tumi and her fellow athlete completed the “9 Peak Challenge” where they attempted to summit the highest peaks in each of the 9 South African provinces. However, their attempted was not deemed a record on a technicality that they were not able to reach the exact coordinates on two of the peaks.
